Our Platform and Issues

 This platform was created by the Democratic Women’s Club of Florida (DWCF) to promote the values of the Democratic women’s clubs throughout the state. We seek to involve women and gender expansive individuals in the political process and support Democratic candidates and legislators who support our platform. 

 The DWCEV supports the Universal Declaration of Fundamental Human Rights Freedoms Adopted by the United Nations Assembly December 10, 1948.

Teacher Unions, Collective Bargaining, and Salary Increases 4. Affordable College and Student Loan Forgiveness, not to exceed 10% of Income 5. Personal Fulfillment through Education and Work 

We Support: 1. Legal and Medication Abortion, Reproductive Health Care 2. Planned Parenthood Funding 3. The Affordable Care Act and Expansion of Medicaid Benefits 4. Affordable Prescription Medication comparable to V.A. 5. Mental Health Insurance Parity with Medical Coverage 6. Drug and Alcohol Addiction Prevention and Treatment 7. Medical Marijuana and Decriminalization for Personal Use and Possession

We Support: 1. Civil Rights, Americans with Disabilities and Same Sex Marriage 2. Humane Treatment by Law Enforcement 3. Community Policing and Mental Health Crisis Intervention 4. Justice Programs to Address Youth Violence and Recidivism 5. Pre-Release Plans for Felons to include Vocational Training 6. Strengthening Laws against Cyber Bullying, Threats of Violence and Stalking 7. Laws that Promote Gun Safety, Ban of Assault Rifles and Large Capacity Magazines

We Support: 1. All immigrants are entitled to due process, basic human rights, and must be treated with dignity and respect. 2. Integration of Immigrants into Communities with a Pathway to Citizenship 3. Dreamer’s Civil Rights and Non-Deportation for Non-Criminal Immigrants 4. Humane Treatment of Refugees at Border Crossings 5. Strengthening Interdiction and Prosecution of Human Trafficking
